Every year, Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology organizes a scientific conference, the Annual Meeting of Marine Technology, a conference with associated events. This year, the Annual Meeting will take place on the 12th and 13th of December 2017 at the Eugenides Foundation. MaRITeC-X project members attended the 2017 Annual meeting of H.I.M.T. as part of the “Larnaka Blue City” and collaborative partner of the University of Cyprus postgraduate program to be launched September 2018. Following our first meeting during the kick-off meeting, MaRITeC-X launches the 2nd Plenary Session of the International Academic and Industry Advisory Board of MaRITeC-X which will take place on Friday, 15th of December, from 15:00 until 19:00 (local time), at the “Zenon” Coordination Centre in Larnaka. The session will have the form of a workshop, as important discussions will take place regarding the conduct of the gap analysis in priority Blue Economy sectors of Cyprus. MaRITeC-X was successfully promoted in the 1st Radisson Blu Marathon that took place in Larnaka on the 19th of November. Over 100 local participants –among them officials from the Larnaka Municipality, the Rector of the University of Cyprus, members of  Nautical clubs, representatives of local NGOs and citizens- wearing a particularly creative T-Shirt with the image of Sea P eoples, the logo of MaRITeC-X and the slogan “Keep calm and watch Larnaka go Blue” participated in the 5 kilometers corporate race, demonstrating their support to this EU- funded project which is expected to play an important role in turning Larnaka into a Regional Blue Economy, Education, Training and Research Center. On Tuesday October 10th the Rector of the University of Cyprus Professor Constantinos Christofides and the Mayor of Larnaka Mr. Andreas Vyras officially announced the new “Faculty of Marine Science and Technology” of the University of Cyprus which will be based in Larnaka.
